    Question: do you prescribe to the forearm and wrist moving in the same manner on the flat, slice, and topspin serves?

    Some feedback. When the ball is hit to you with a lot of pace , going straight down with the slice is the perfect motion. When you don't have much pace to work with and want to put the ball deep and low, then this knuckle position is perfect. So, I think both slice motions are appropriate given the situation

    The advice I got from a doubles partner was to approach this shot like I was using my arm to sweep books off a high shelf from right to left. I was never sure where my strings and racquet would face. Still not sure after seeing this video. Steve, do my strings face the net?

    Great explanation why stepping into the ball may be not the best instruction for leaning a modern forehand. On the other hand, today’s ‘ forehand is not hit with a continental drive as you did. For actual demonstration, you may need some one that has truly adopted to modern forehand.

    After 40 years of (even quite competitive tennis) I just started to push in the ground. Before, I stayed low, used my knees, stood up like from a chair, but all these concepts don‘t come close. Pushing into the ground is the way to do it!

    Steve, you discuss wrist extension here as well as your book (which I enjoyed very much!). I’ve been experimenting and (I think) open up my wrist during my racket drop. Here’s my question: how is this movement different than the “dreaded” waiter’s tray? Thanks for all of your content!

    • @oneminutetennis
      @oneminutetennis 4 дня назад

      Hi Great question and a subject that is often confused, even by online coaches. It's the relationship between the elbow and the extended wrist. Put your wrist into extension and now take the racket back with a low elbow... You have the waiter tray position. Now significantly raise your elbow. You now have the correct racket drop! 😉 Let me know if that helps please.

    • @NStewF
      @NStewF 3 дня назад

      @@oneminutetennis that makes great sense! I’ve noticed i actually get a much better slice serve when extending the wrist during my racket drop. Will continue to experiment :)

    • @oneminutetennis
      @oneminutetennis 4 дня назад

      If your in a difficult situation. On the run... On the stretch.... This is good advice. Otherwise... Down, turn and up is correct. If your unconvinced... Simply look at 90% of pro groundstrokes...... Do they stay down... Or do they push up? Hope that this helps Glad your enjoying the channel. Do you have any other tennis issues that I could help with? If so let me know www.oneminutetennis.com

      @robertoperez7395 4 дня назад

      Hi Rick. Staying down, means using more shoulder and arm, having more control. When doing what Steve says, there is more power in the shot and possibly a little less control, but it is a much better shot. Steve put out a video on these two concepts , using more shoulder or hips and upper body rotation.
